Eating out / Restaurants

The White Elephant    (Map #2)

One of the oldest and finest "farang and Thai" restaurant in Roiet. Klaus, the german owner, will make you taste some of the best Thai food in Isaan. They have giant screens, pool TV, air conditioning and speak English. Large menu and very nice establishment as you can read by clicking here (See paragraph 20 of that text). Or you can call Klaus at 043-514778.

Klaus the owner and a client...after few drinks!

Pizza One-Oh-One    (Map #12)   (ร้านอาหารฝรั่ง)

CHEAP drinks and best pizza in town! Beautiful view on the lake and they speak English. Check the specials. Opens around 10 AM and closes around midnight .  Big Singha beer is 70 Baht.

New place in town for deli's, sausages, etc. Open in May 2008, near the Roiet City Hotel.

Very good restaurant with nice tables outside and air conditioning inside. They have a small English menu. We recommend:
      - Chicken with cashew. Kai pad med ma moun (ไก่ผัดเม็ดมะม่วง)
         -  Full fish in a red spicy sauce .  Pla ra prik   (ปลาราดพริก)
         -  Basil squid fried .  Krap Prow Plaa Muk  (กระเพราปลาหมึก)

Chai Ka

Korean BBQ    (Map #3)  (เกาหลี)

There are many Korean BBQ in Roi-Et but this one is the biggest! You cook your own meat and vegetables on a small BBQ at your table. Chicken, pork, liver, seafood. Tables are all outside, some under a kind of shelter which is great in the rainy season. Cheap and enjoyable with friends.

  1.   - Shrimps (Kung) กุ้ง        - Seafood (Thaley)  ทะเล
      - Pork  (Mu)  หมู              - Chicken (Gai) ไก่

Dim Sum   (Map near #17

Very nice place to go for a small lunch if you love dim sum or don’t want to eat spicy. Dim sum are small dishes from south of China , normally cooked or steamed in a bamboo basket. At this restaurant, a bamboo basket is 10 baht and you will need 3 or 4 to fill you up. You will see some ducks and bamboo basket in front of this restaurant, under a big Coke-Cola publicity, not far away from Showtime Video store. They also have a nice dish a duck, with pickles over rice for 20 baht called ‘Khao Na Pet’.

The Pony Tail   (Map #5)

\Named that way by local farangs because the owner has a small mustache and a pony tail. There are 2 pony tail restaurants: One beside Thai military Bank (called #1) and the other one near Lotus (called #2). #1 has a small English menu (60 dishes).  And dishes are NOT SPICY (like Chinese). Opens late and closes VERY late (after the bars). We recommend:

     - Radish soup
      - Pork Kebab with peanut sauce (สเต๊กหมู)

Falk Land     (Map #2)  (ฟอร์คแลนด์)

223 Nong Ya Ma Village, Ranachai Chanyut Rd., Muang Tel :: 66 4351 3500
223 หมู่บ้านหนองหญ้าม้า ถ. รณชัยชาญยุทธ โทรศัพท์ : 0 4351 3500
One of the most beautiful place in Roi-Et but DIFFICULT to find. It is located outside the ring road and you have to drive one KM from the main road to find it. Huts around an artificial lake. Specialty is FISH. NOT OPEN AT NIGHT, only for lunch time until 4 or 5 PM. We recommend:

- Complete fish with spicy peanut sauce. Plaa Pow    (ปลาเผา)
- Pork deep fried (dry) with red sauce. Mu ded deeo   (หมูแดดเดียว)
